Managing Traffic Sources Efficiently

How many traffic sources can you name? How many of them do you use for your web-site promotion/development? Whether you’re a simple blog owner, premium publisher, respectable advertisers or affiliate marketer, you’d better know how to answer these questions right, because traffic sources for the website are pretty much like air for a human being. No air – no life. And though we all know how to breathe, not every webmaster knows how to make his traffic sources optimization efforts a success. But don’t worry, this, as any other kind of knowledge, is achievable if you have strong intentions of achieving it.

The fact that you’re reading this article means that, you’ve read a lot on this particular subject. But don’t worry – you won’t lose your time reading my piece of advice here, because I’d like to offer you something really worthwhile.

First thing you need to know is what are the five sources of traffic? The answer is an easy one – SEOSA. Just remember this word, because it has it all! Just look – Search, E-mail, Organic, Social, Advertising. Let’s take a closer look at each of these sources of traffic:

  1. Search – search traffic is the one you get from the almighty Google and its junior brothers Yahoo and Bing. The problem here is that you will face severe competition from the outstanding number of websites who have content like yours. That’s why SEO is so popular – it lets your content be displayed right where it’s necessary.
  2. E-mail – you hate e-mail traffic don’t you? Nevertheless, it’s alive because it works. It may be the “cold calling” style letters, or a more civilized way – newsletters, but e-mail traffic really has the power to turn potential customers or readers into the actual ones.
  3. Organic – organic traffic is a thing which marketers are ready to spill their digital blood for. The heavenly realm of Internet would mean that all traffic that comes to websites is organic. Getting back to the earthly dimension you won’t get anything like this, because organic traffic is not so easy to find. Organic traffic is represented by the visitors who really want to get to your website. They visit it because of their sincere intention. It’s close to the search traffic, but still organic and search isn’t the same thing.
  4. Social – love social traffic, and it will love you in turn. Social traffic has turned out to be the real deal for people who want to boost their traffic sources quickly and efficiently. Social media has exploded during the last four years and with websites like Facebook, Stumbleupon, Pinterest and others it has become a great way to make a great showing of your website to the world.
  5. Advertising – finally, advertising traffic is the one you get from third party services. Be it Google Adwords, Blogads or MGID, you should get what I’m talking about. You give them money – they give you traffic. Traffic = visitors. Amazing thing about modern advertising traffic is that you can find really cheap but promising deals even from respectable sources for this kind of traffic, which will benefit you greatly in the long run (see Facebook Ads and MGID). Just don’t lose your head and above all, stay away from scams, which often seem to be legitimate.

Having listed all five source of traffic it shouldn’t be difficult for you to decide which of them will suit your business or website most. Managing all sources of traffic efficiently means developing a strategic model where all components will be balanced out.

Just don’t think that you should use all of the listed sources. For instance some websites just don’t need to use e-mail traffic. The others avoid advertising traffic. Anyway – make the best use of the sources which will work most effectively for you and don’t forget SEOSA!

Audience Engagement Guide

Sometimes generating traffic and growing a website’s audience can seem like a crap shoot. You can build compelling articles and hope that it attracts clicks. You can promote your content on social media and cross your fingers that it works. But you might not know that there is a guaranteed way to increase traffic.

Content promotion services are the only quick way to ensure your audience grows – and not just a little. Some promise up to 200% growth. That number might sound magical, but it’s actually a science.

Content promotion services do what you cannot do alone. They belong to networks that share related content with widgets. Having them on your team is like joining an exclusive club with access to a large pool of potential readers. Done correctly, partnering with one can increase traffic and sales, up your Google ranking, solidify your brand, as well as customer loyalty and public engagement.

And there is no finger crossing required. Services like MGID, Taboola and nRelate are experts in audience development and have skilled editorial teams that are able to find your best content and promote it in places with the highest potential to spread.

So clearly bringing on the services of content promotionplatforms is a no-brainer. A company that doesn’t will quickly fall by the wayside. But you can’t just pick the first one you click on. First of all, there are a massive number of them, which is evidence in itself that these services are in demand and that your competitors are already using them. But additionally, each one offers different features that make them unique. So some of them are for you, while some of them are for someone else.

For example, if your site is heavy in video, you should consider Taboola. They have connections to all of the top video content sites, and offer flexibility in online video platforms. Publishers that place Taboola on story pages and video pages can expect to see 20% to 100% growth in video views in just a few weeks.

nRelate is connected to thousands of sites and is responsible for millions of click throughs every month. Customers see an increase in page views within a few hours after signing up.

MGID is like a content marketing genie, advertising content and boosting traffic with a simple widget. However, the widget which represents MGID’s audience development platform is not the only option to choose from their tools. You can buy traffic or use their CPC program as an alternative.
